Baba Visits

Baba, Andy's dad, visited us over the weekend to see Ellen, serve as Gordy's personal walker, and help us around the house. Baba was also here for Ellen's first foray into solid foods seen here in her new high chair. Can't believe how fast she's growing! Next weekend will be another first when she takes her first plane ride to Park City Utah for our annual ski trip and to see her cousins!

DC Snowstorm, Take Two!

So we all thought the incredible storm we experienced back in December was a once in a decade event. Hmmm...not so fast. We just got over two feet of snow over the course of 36 hours! We lost one tree to the storm and are close to losing another. Luckily Andy is in Utah on his annual boys ski trip!!! Good thing my mom and step-dad are here enduring "Snowmaggeden" with me and Ellen. Here is a shot of me and Ellen in the snow today. Spring, please come soon!

Baby Carnival

Ellen spent most of today inside again given the cold weather in DC. Are we really getting snow again!? Ugh. I'm ready for the spring. There is nothing like having an infant in the winter to make you feel cooped up! So I digress...

Anyway, here you will see Miss Ellen enjoying her new Exersaucer...or as my mom called it "the baby carnival". Please pass the funnel cake!! Gotta love a happy baby :)

Sitting Pretty

Ellen got this gift from an old colleague of mine who has a little girl as well. I would highly recommend it! (http://www.bumbobabyseat.com/) She loves to sit in it and act "all grown" up. We call it her baby armchair. This picture was taken by our nanny Lily, who spends every Tuesday and Thursday with Ellen. Notice the intent look on her face...I'm sure she is plotting something against her dad since he's leaving us to go skiing for 5 days!

Ellen Strikes a Pose

So Ellen and I just enjoyed our first Itsy Bitsy Yoga class. I'm sure you're all dying to know what it entailed. Let me fill you in... Picture a big room with yoga mats and lots of babies, a very excited and sweet natured instructor, and the occasional meltdown. Ellen and I learned a couple of "poses," but mostly she just stared intently at her neighbor. It was a nice way to get out of the house, see how far we've come (i.e. the 7 week old babies) and what lies ahead (the 8 month old). We considered a double workout (i.e. baby pilates) but alas Ellen needed a nap...

Ellen Turns Four Months!

So, I haven't been exactly dilligent in keeping up with this blog, but I vow to change my ways in 2010. Ellen has grown so much, as you can see in the pictures below (my appologies for my poor photography skills). She is now blabbering, smiling, cooing, and sleeping pretty well, sorta :) She is such a sweet baby...we feel so lucky.

Over the last month Ellen got a mild case of RSV from her brief stint at daycare but she's fine now and enjoying her new playmate, our Brazilian nanny Lily who is wonderful! This week we start our first Itsy Bitsy Yoga. I'm not sure what to expect, as I'm pretty sure downward dog is not involved!

That's all for now...enjoy the pictures!

Welcome to Ellen's Pond!

Since having Ellen 6 weeks ago, I thought it might be nice to post pictures and updates about little Ellen on a blog as to avoid cluttering the inboxes of friends and family members.

So, how did I come up with the name? Ellen is so little that she can't see too far in front of her and can't distinguish colors too well. That said, she is transfixed by a blurry painting of a pond that we have behind our couch. It's so cute to watch her stare so intently at the painting that we started calling it Ellen's pond...

I've included some of my favorite newborn photos of Ellen and some recent pictures as well. We hired Joy Lyn (http://www.joylynphotography.com/) to shoot some photos of Ellen when she was 8 days old and I think they turned out great.

Some of the more recent photos include pictures with her Nana and several of her napping, which is mostly what she does these days :)

Anyway, welcome! I hope you enjoy seeing photos of Ellen and hearing updates! This weekend is halloween so I'll be sure to post some pictues of Ellen in garb :)
